The government should be looking at things like cutting spending and creating an economic landscape in which businesses can thrive, but I don't think we're currently doing either of those things.

For Health Care the only reason to change anything would be to increase Availability, decrease Cost, or increase Quality. Availability is what they are selling, that if this passes and everyone will be able to get Health Insurance. But all projections have shown that we will spend all this money and raise taxes and the bill won't even cover all the people w/o Insurance. This bill claims it will decrease cost, but they don't actually know that. The President has said himself that Premiums would go up, we will suddenly be covering more people and people who could be at higher risk, so if Health Insurance is to survive premiums will go up. This bill doesn't increase Quality in any way, because doctors will not magically become better doctors.

Side Note: This bill costs upwards of a trillion dollars. We would spend less money on this if we kept everything the same and just paid for all the people who don't have health insurance.

Quick Hit: Who Is Stalling Health Care?

Here is a little bit of talkback I had with someone on Digg.com today relating to the Health Care Debate

He Posted this bit, on http://digg.com/d31JyQt:

"It is extremely hard to turn your anger towards Obama or the Democratic party when, in fact, they are acutally doing something. It is much easier to attack the GOP because they are the ones not making sense and stalling things on purpose. Obama did one good thing at his state of the Union address. He made it well known that the opposition to his healthcare bill is stalling."

To which I replied:

"If you are mad at the stalling then be mad at Democrats, the Republicans don't even have to show up, they don't have the votes in Congress to stop anything. And this "summit" was bullshit. Obama is basically saying agree with us, or we'll do it anyway. And if this Health Plan is soo great why do they want Republicans to share the accolades? Or if this Health Plan is soo great why don't all the Dems agree and vote for it and then its over. They want to share the blame around if it goes bad, and it will. The Dems could have passed this last year with no problem, they had a super-majority."

I know I may be biased, as it is my site, but This Nerd is RIGHT! about this.

Pull List 02/24/10

Huge week, even for in-store stuff this week. Lots of books, including HUGE event books. No real drops this week, a couple minis ending though. I don't know if other than the event books, I ever want to buy a mini series again. Just gonna wait for trades on them.

Amazing Spider-Man #622 - Spider-Man vs Morbius the "Living" Vampire. More Spider-Fun I expect from Van Lente and Joe Quinones, who did the art for the Green Lantern story in 'Wednesday's Comics' so it will be pretty.

Batman And Robin #9 - [dcbs] This is the second issue of this book for the month and when my DCBS box comes in I can't wait to enjoy 2 (hopefully) fun issues. This book has been fun but I just don't know where its going or how long its gonna last. I like Cameron Stewart's art, but when Frank Quitely coming back? I don't know how that guy survives if he only did 3 issues of work this year + 9 covers.

Blackest Night #7 (OF 8) - Finally! Feels like forever since this book came out, and it has! (2 months in fact). Green Lantern has been better during this x-over for me so far, but something BIG has to happen this issue, cause y'know next issue will be the big fight and some wrap up.

Blackest Night JSA #3 (OF 3) - [dcbs] My least favorite of all the BN tie-in books. But I've been sour on the whole JSA lately, the Johns curse in full effect. Hopefully it wraps up nicely

Fall Of Hulks Red Hulk #2 (OF 4) - Hulks...I love'em. Gotta catch'em all! Red, Green, She, Savage She, and now Red She, A-bomb for fun.

Fantastic Four #576 - [dcbs] I'm loving this book and the art has been unreal. Its so good I'm on the fence of switching to trades, its gonna look nice collected but each issue feels good on its own as well. Might double dip, we'll see.

Flash Rebirth #6 (OF 6) - Another Finally! Can't wait to read and happy for it to finally be over. Just want the new series to start like NOW. A lot of people have been negative on it, but I've been enjoying the ride, just glad the ride is over.

New Avengers #62 - A siege 'tie-in', the last issue was really good. Bendis looks to go out on this book on a high note, and I'm only sad Immonen won't be coming along for the new Avengers book, he's been knocking it out of the park on this book.

Splendid Magic Of Penny Arcade 11.5 Anniv Ed Hc - [dcbs] I'm a big Penny Arcade fan, been reading it forever, not entirely sure what this HC is gonna contain, but I look forward to finding out.

Superman #697 - I say this every week, I love the Super-books. Lots of fun, and I think we're getting some more Legion related stuff in this issue. Can't wait!

The Marvels Project #6 (OF 8) - [dcbs] Another mini I've been enjoying...and wishing I waited for the collection on. Not sure where its going but its terribly interesting.

Thor #607 - [dcbs] This will be the first Siege tie-in for Thor, not sure what its gonna be yet. Hope its good.

X-Force #24 - [dcbs] Frothing at the mouth for this book, X-books have been like crack for me lately. Both happy I get to read them all at once from DCBS, and can't stand waiting for them.

Pull List 02/18/10

Pretty Hefty Week, with Blackest Night, Hulks, and a smattering of other stuff. Seriously they are trying to kill me. No drops this week, not even for trades. These are pretty much all books I plan to buy monthly for the near future, and missed my Trade switching binge....for now anyway.

Amazing Spider-Man #621 - Next Part of the Gauntlet starts here, Mr. Negative for a change of pace being the first non-classic spidey villain to be apart of it. And another Dan Slott issue as well Sweet

Avengers Vs Atlas #2 (OF 4) - [dcbs] Next Part of this attempt to have fun with the AoA and give them more exposure. Can't wait to read this and also happy to hear their return to a new ongoing series.

Batman Streets Of Gotham #9 - [dcbs] Loving the build up in this book to the eventual showdown with Zsazs

Blackest Night The Flash #3 (OF 3) - [dcbs] Johns and Kolins doing Flash, Blue Lantern Flash no less.

Dark Avengers #14 - Excited to read this more on the Sentry a character I've been interested in and finally getting some answers about what his deal is. We got his "true" origin last issue, more revelations to follow I imagine.

Green Lantern #51 - Loving this book, but just baffled by the lack of inclusion in Blackest Night proper, so much has happened in the GL issues, and been so long since Blackest Night has come out, its weird but still a damn good story. Oh yeah Parallax(Hal) vs. Spectre! Craziness

Green Lantern Corps #45 - Looks like Red Lantern Guy vs. the rest of the corps. We know it'll all turn out good in the end but more fun I hope. I feel like this book has been not important to Blackest Night. Still having fun just surised by that fact. Not sure if I will continue this book after BN.

Hulk #20 - Just jumped whole hog back into all the Hulk books, and loving them.

Incredible Hercules #141 - Another book I just jumped back on, and I'm just in time for the finale! A great book loads of fun and good story. Leading to the Hercules: Fall of an Avengers Mini (2 issues) and then to the Prince of Power Ongoing Series.

Incredible Hulk #607 - Give me more Skaar/Banner stories or give me death! Seriously this is like a dream book, just makes me sad cause I don't think the dynamic of this book is going to stick around for longer, but I will enjoy it till the end!

Invincible #70 - [dcbs] Its Invincible itd gonna be good, if you like super-heroes why aren't you reading this??

Supergirl #50 - With WONK over, timeline seems weird, but another fun issue I hope with purrty art by Igle, and an anniversary issue at that.

Tiny Titans #25 - a book I enjoy but don't get too often, fun silliness, geoff johns joining bathazar and franco for a superboy issue.

Uncanny X-Men #521 - [dcbs] Magneto has to prove himself to Cyclops and the rest of Utopia, Pretty much assume is means Kitty coming back. Which is awesome. X-Men being awesome again, still shocked.

Comic Box Reviews 01/29/10

Well I got my Giant Box o' Comics from DCBS this week, so for the next week I play catch up for Januarys books. So this will be a bunch of short reviews of stuff kind of as I read them.

Captain America: Reborn #6 - Big finale of this series, was big crazy action. For some reason its really weird to see Hitch draw the current Marvel universe. Like his version of the Wasp was good, but looked off to me I don't know why. And since when did Steve Rogers "A" on his head look like that? Not complaining just something I noticed. I thought Steve took out the Red Skull in his mind a little quickly, but the ensuing battle after was cool. This was an enjoyable series, but I'll never understand why this couldn't have been issues of the regular Captain America book, especially when they didn't publish Cap...I just think it interrupts the narrative flow of that book. It was a good mini, it would have been a mind-blowing arc in Captain America.

X-Factor #201 - I freaking loved issue #200, and this continues that great story of "The Invisible Woman is Missing". This will be my last issue of this book proper sadly, as I will be switching to trade. I love this book and Peter David has been knocking it out of the park for a while now. This new direction for the book seems like its gonna be loads of fun. Layla is still being used in interesting ways and the grouping of characters is great if not unexpected.

Uncanny X-Men #520 - Continuing the Nation X story, We got Colossus, Psylocke, and Wolverine combing NY to find Predator X and stumbling across the new villains of this arc. Then back in Utopia we have Cyclops giving Magneto a stern talking to about overstepping his boundaries and breaking the chain of command, which is both cool, and kind of hilarious to think about. Now Magneto has to prove himself trustworthy, and knowing what he's going to do to prove himself, I can't wait for it! If you can't tell, I'm enjoying this book. Fraction is doing a great job and I know people have issues with Greg Land, but this issue looks great and I think he keeps getting better.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer #31 - I'm enjoying this book, but the tone just feels really weird to me, not sure if its the art or the story. The dialog is top notch as always from Joss. Buffy had powers, but now she has super-powers. I'm interested to see how long that lasts and how it will play out as we head into the last or second to last story of "Season 8". We also have lot of emotional stuff going on with Buffy, Xander, and Dawn which is entertaining and feels genuine for these characters.

Ultimate Spider-Man #6 - Fun, thats all I have to say. This book is so much fun, and really is my favorite Bendis written book I think. This issue finishes up the set-up for the next presumably long run of this great book. We now have Spider-Man, Human Torch, Iceman, and Gwen Stacy all living with Aunt May and she sets them up as Peter's cousins which is kind of hilarious and they even recognize how crazy that is. This Ultimate version of Mysterio looks like he's gonna be around for a while, taking up the Kingpin role. This is possibly my last issue of this series as I again think this will be better for me in Trades or HC, I'm thinking that way about the whole Ultimate line right now. I'll try and sell these issues and go from there.

Thats all I've read so far, more in the coming days...I got a lot of stuff this shipment hoo boy. And man that is Marvel heavy, Gotta get me some more DC love going on.

These Nerds Are Right! - Episode 3: Comic News Brew

Me and Chad again, talking lots of recent comic news, some stuff we've been reading, and what our favorites were for the past year. Also stuff I would have gotten, but I'm dropping it as of this month, with an explanation as to why. All of this totally unoriginal though, because I stole this idea from richlovatt.com who is a cool guy and you should read his blog as well, or follow him on Twitter at @RichL1

Amazing Spider-Man #618 - First part of a Mysterio arc by Dan Slott and Marcos Martin. One of the most consistently good books on the market. The last issue with the Rhino by Joe Kelly was a masterpiece, hoping this is just as good, I'm a huge Slott fan, and Marcos can draw like an SOB so outlook is good.

Avengers Vs Agents Of Atlas #1 - [dcbs] One of my online pulls, and one of my favorite books of this year, now relegated to these VS mini-series and backups. Its gonna be a fun read, I just wish they had at least put kept going with all this in the Agents of Atlas regular series.

Batman Streets Of Gotham #8 - Probably my favorite of all the Batman titles out right now, they are building a creepy story with Mr. Zsasz, and the Manhunter backups are sweet!

Blackest Night The Flash #2 (OF 3) - [dcbs] Johns + Kolins + Flash Rouge's = Awesome

Brave And The Bold #31 - [tradewait] I've been enjoying these one off stories from JMS, don't know how long its going on for. I've decided to wait for this stuff to be collected as of this issue.

Dark Avengers Siege #13 - I love me some Bendis Avengers, and now that Siege has begun, this Shit just got REAL. Also we're supposed to finally find out what the Sentry's deal is. Can't wait

Green Lantern Corps #44 - Its a Green Lantern book, and we're in the middle of Blackest Night, its awesome.

Joe The Barbarian #1 (OF 8) - [dcbs] Grant Morrisons's new series I'm doing a 1st issue try out on this, got this issue for a Quarter on DCBS. If I like it then I'll get the HC or TPB

Mighty Avengers #33 - Another Slott book, with some good old superhero fun. They just announced all the Avengers book will end along with Siege. You know Bendis isn't goin anywhere but I hope Slott still has a Avengers book when Siege is all over.

Rebels Tp Vol 01 The Coming Of Starro - Heard a lot about this series, been pretty excited to read it. I don't know if I'll buy it this week but I'll be putting it aside this week. I got a Deluxe Tom Strong HC waiting as well.

Uncanny X-Men #520 - [dcbs] Love it, love it, love me some X-men. Fraction has been knocking it out of the park. I get all my X-Books online, and it kills me cause they are so good and I want to read them right away.

Only one book dropped this week.
